How accurate is this estimate?
It is a rough physics model, not a track measurement: acceleration comes from the power-to-weight ratio with a body-type factor and a traction floor, top speed from an aerodynamic drag model. Real results move with gearing, tires, surface, rider skill and electronics — expect roughly ±10-15%, more on scooters and heavily geared bikes.
Why does 0-100 depend on more than power?
Below about 100 km/h a strong motorcycle can spin the tire or lift the front wheel — traction and wheelie control decide the launch, not peak power. That is why a 200 hp superbike and a 120 hp supersport post nearly the same 0-100; the difference appears above 150 km/h.
Why are scooters slower than their power suggests?
The CVT automatic transmission absorbs part of the power and keeps the engine off its peak during launch, and small wheels limit traction. Our scooter factor accounts for this, but variator setup changes a lot between models.
Why is real top speed often lower than the aerodynamic estimate?
Many motorcycles are geared to reach the rev limiter before the aerodynamic maximum, and most open-class bikes are electronically limited to 299 km/h by agreement. Our figure is the drag-limited potential with a tucked rider — think of it as the ceiling, not a promise.
How much does rider weight matter?
A lot on light bikes: 20 kg extra on a 150 kg motorcycle is a 9% mass increase and slows 0-100 noticeably. On a 350 kg tourer the same 20 kg barely registers. Enter your own weight above — the estimate uses the full bike + rider mass.
Is a quicker motorcycle always the better choice?
